Cyber Range
Looking Ahead: A Cyber Range for Tennessee
To keep pace with rising threats, MTSU is planning to create a Cyber Range—a cutting-edge simulation environment where students, businesses, and government agencies can train for real-world cyberattacks.
“A fully developed Cyber Range would allow our students to get as close to reality as possible in strategizing and shutting down cyberattacks,” said Dr. Joyce Heames, Dean of the Jones College of Business. “It would also provide employers with a training ground for their workforce to counter threats every day.”
The Cyber Range will feature:
• Training labs aligned with NIST/NICE frameworks.
• Incident response simulations with red-team/blue-team exercises.
• A virtualized Security Operations Center.
• Hybrid delivery, available on-site, through regional hubs, and online.
For businesses, the range will offer employee training, compliance simulations, and certificate programs—without the cost of building in-house facilities. For students, it will provide hands-on, industry-standard experience that employers demand. For Tennessee, it will serve as a statewide hub for resilience, workforce readiness, and innovation.
Let’s build the future of cybersecurity together.
MTSU’s degree offerings, Center for Cybersecurity Management, and planned Cyber Range represent a bold investment in people, partnerships, and preparedness.
